The Reformer’s Dilemma

In the summer of 2024, Dr. Ricardo Rossello released The Reformer’s Dilemma and the Need for a Radical Middle. The memoir recounts the former Governor’s attempts to enact broad, sweeping reforms in Puerto Rico to reduce corruption and waste, and the obstacles that emerged to block his policies.

The book includes stories from his ten hours with President Trump following the devastation of Hurricane Maria, his attempts to manage a huge fiscal crisis, and the social uprising that led to his exit from office. It also chronicles his return to public office as a Congressional Delegate, becoming the first person in Puerto Rican history to be elected by unsolicited write-in ballot.

The book makes a passionate, persuasive argument for a Radical Middle to emerge as a powerful voice in U.S. politics. Dr. Rossello relates his first-hand experiences with the extreme poles of politics and their attempts to block any meaningful reform based on unshakable orthodoxy. He calls on the ‘silent majority’ to become a vocal force for common-sense, scientifically-based government policies.
